These are mood lights, not task lights. The light passes through the printed wall and scatters on the way out, so the whole shade glows instead of throwing a beam at one spot on the desk. You won't read a book by it. For a warm background light next to the bed, on a desk or on a shelf, it does exactly what you want.
Both lamps are printed from PLA that comes out of our own extrusion line, and both run on warm white LEDs. Designed and made in Poland.
Every 3D printed lamp in this category runs on 5 V over USB. A laptop, a power bank, a phone charger, a USB socket in a bedside table — all of them work.
Compared with a lamp that needs a mains socket, this changes where you can put it. No outlet nearby is fine. On a power bank the lamp works on a balcony or on a camping table, which is not something a 230 V table lamp will do for you.
The Mushroom Lamp is shaped like a mushroom, 14 cm wide and 26 cm tall, available in green, red and white. The shape has an obvious audience — it is the one people buy as a night light for a child's room.
Twist Flow is the quieter option: 26 cm tall, 10 cm across at the base, opening up to 14 cm at the top. Available in white, orange, green and red.
With a printed shade this matters more than with fabric. The wall of the lamp filters the light on its way through, so the colour you pick decides what the room looks like at night.
White passes the warm LED light through almost unchanged and reads as the brightest of the set. Red and orange tint the room noticeably and give a much warmer, dimmer light. Green sits somewhere in between.
For a night light next to a bed, white or a warm tone is the safer choice. If you want the lamp to be a colour accent on a shelf, red or green makes more sense.
The mushroom shape ends up in children's rooms often, and the way it is built supports that: no hot bulb and no mains cable in the bed, just 5 V over USB. On a power bank it keeps working when the lamp is taken into a play tent or under a blanket.
For adults Twist Flow is the usual pick — a housewarming gift, or a bedside lamp. Because we make the filament ourselves, a second lamp in the same colour still matches months later, which is useful if you want a pair for both sides of a bed.
LEDs at this power get hand-warm, not hot. That is the reason PLA works as a shade here at all. With an incandescent or halogen bulb it would be out of the question, because PLA starts to soften at around 60 °C.
So don't swap in another bulb and don't rebuild the lamp onto a mains socket.
A soft brush lifts dust out of the texture, a slightly damp cloth handles the smooth surfaces. Unplug it first and never put the lamp in water.
Keep it out of direct summer sun behind glass. That is less about the LED than about the sun itself: a closed windowsill in high summer can reach temperatures where the plastic warps.
