ASA Filament

The material for outdoor applications

ASA is designed for one purpose that justifies its cost: UV and weather resistance. ABS exposed outdoors becomes chalky, discoloured and brittle within a season. ASA retains its colour and strength through UV, rain and temperature variation, making it the appropriate material for parts mounted outdoors, on roofs, vehicles, garden fixtures or dashboards.

Print settings

Print at 260–270 °C with a 90–100 °C bed, hotter than ABS, with the same handling requirements: an enclosure, a draught-free environment and minimal part cooling. ASA warps comparably to ABS and benefits from a warm chamber, a clean plate and careful first-layer calibration.

Ventilation

ASA is styrene-based and emits comparable fumes to ABS. Use an enclosure, vent it, and ventilate the room. It is less pronounced in odour than ABS but still requires proper ventilation.
