Plexiwire PLA Filament

Plexiwire PLA is another of the most popular 3D printing filaments. Due to its properties and absolute non-toxicity, the material is increasingly used for general tasks - basic modeling and prototyping. Plastic is biodegradable because it is made from natural plant materials (such as corn). Therefore, when printing there are no harmful substances and unpleasant smells. It is also one of the easiest to print and undemanding plastics, making it ideal for inexperienced 3D printing enthusiasts and kids who are just getting started with the possibilities of filaments. However, that doesn't make it unprofessional. Experienced professionals know that this material is excellent for detailed products with a smooth surface. Yes, it is not as strong as ABS, but it is also hard enough to print a high-precision part that can withstand certain loads. All this is achieved due to the fact that the plastic has a high interlayer adhesion and a minimum shrinkage coefficient. By the way, therefore it can be used on tables without heating.

Application

In fact, PLA plastic can print almost all parts, including those that you are used to printing from ABS. But first of all, these are those objects that require a high level of safety and non-toxicity of the material: toys for children, household items, decor and interior design elements, art objects. PLA is also often used for general prototyping. PLA is especially popular for use in 3D pens.

Guidelines for PLA Printing

Due to its minimal shrinkage, this filament is ideal for products where geometric and dimensional accuracy are very important. The same can be said about printing large objects. It is also better to use PLA if you do not have forced ventilation in your print room. This filament is biodegradable and created from natural ingredients, so it is absolutely harmless and does not release any toxic substances when melted. That is why it is recommended for use in 3D pens and when printing with 3D printers involving children.

The disadvantage of biodegradability is that it is better not to use the products on the street. They will retain their shape, but the appearance will deteriorate very quickly.
